Echo At the Barbican – Dog Photography in Central London

Echo, an ex-racing greyhound, took part in one of my first model calls in London, and her dad booked a full dog photography session a few months later. While the first session took place in the City of London, featuring modern and neoclassical architecture, this time her dad, an architect, wanted some shots of his gorgeous girl against brutalist buildings in London. We, therefore, decided to carry out Echo’s second dog photography session at Barbican in London.

about echo's dog photography session

We met at the Barbican Estate at 9 am on a bank holiday Monday. The estate was very quiet and made it the perfect setting for a relaxed photography session.

We started playing with shadows, lines and textures to make Echo stand out from the brutalist background while trying to highlight the architectural features at the same time.

I knew how wonderful Echo was from our previous dog photography session and she was, as expected, an absolute superstar. Here are a few shots from the start of the session, and that is just the gorgeous girl warming up!

We then started wandering around the Estate and Echo’s sweet temperament allowed us to work with a wide variety of settings and locations. She enjoyed a walk with her parents while gracefully posing for a chicken treat here and there, and by the end of the session, she was full and ready for a long snooze!

Although dogs love a long walk in the park and exploring green spaces, urban locations are a great solution for the dogs of London, who are used to walking around the city with their parents. Echo was definitely comfortable and relaxed in this location, as she was during her photography session in the city. She is a city dog and her photographs reflect that part of her life with her dad.

prints from echo's dog photography session

A week after Echo’s dog photography session in London I met her dad over Zoom to show him the final images. He loved the images and the image selection wasn’t an easy process!

Echo’s images can now be treasured in a personalised, engraved box of Fine Art prints. A tangible celebration of her life in London, now that she has moved to a different Country with her dad.
